Graham Godwin-Pearson has written to the Somerset councillors for Axbridge and Axbridge Town Council to ask for clarity about tree and hedge removal on Houlgate Way, following concerns about work that has apparently started already.
Graham says, "As part of the Houlgate Way planning process, I campaigned to prevent the removal of trees and hedgerows, as well as for early creation of the wildlife refuge at the south of the site and for more bird boxes and bee bricks in the buildings themselves. The trees could not be removed without the permission of Somerset Council - they are shown outlined in red (meaning they will be removed) on the image above.
"The nesting season runs between 1st March and 31st August and the government stipulates that no nests or nesting birds should be removed or disturbed during this time."
Graham served as the Sedgemoor District Councillor until 31st March, when the council was amalgamated into the new Somerset unitary authority.
Bellway 'mistakenly' removed a hedgerow in November.
