Graham Godwin-Pearson and Jeff Savage are working with Sedgemoor’s leadership team to propose a new woodland near Cheddar. A stone’s throw from the AONB, the plot will form part of the Queen’s Green Canopy for the Platinum Jubilee Year.

Graham says, “Creating a new woodland will be a wonderful legacy for Sedgemoor to leave.

“Sedgemoor Wood has so many benefits - providing a habitat for wildlife, tackling climate change, setting a good example for other councils and permanently protecting the land from more unwanted development.”

Jeff says, "It's a reasonably complicated process, but we already have agreement from the top. If elected to the new Somerset Council next month, we will be hitting the ground running to ring-fence the budget, buy the land, organise the tree-planting and maintenance and make Sedgemoor Wood a reality."
