According to the BBC this morning, the Lib Dem led Somerset Council have pegged Cheddar recycling centre as one of five such facilities that may close. The others are thought to be Castle Cary, Crewkerne, Dulverton and Williton.

The recycling centre in Cheddar may not be in the best location, but it's a crucial local facility for residents who otherwise will have to drive to Highbridge, adding to road miles, congestion and pollution.

The administration at Somerset Council is keen to reduce council services, despite having increased council tax.
