Graham Godwin-Pearson has been campaigning for more kerbside recycling for years in Somerset - particularly soft plastics, such as food wrapping, clingfilm and postage bags. These make up a large volume of waste and are detrimental to the environment.
North Somerset Council, which starts at Winscombe and goes up to Gordano, has rolled-out kerbside soft plastics collection to all households. As well as being good for the environment, the council claims it will save more than £1m per year.
In Somerset, around 3,600 households in Frome are able to recycle soft plastics at the kerbside, in the long-running FlexCollect trial.
Graham would like to see all households in Somerset given the same opportunity. He says, "If North Somerset Council can offer kerbside soft plastics recycling to all households, then we should be able to as well."
