Don't close Draycott Road this summer

draycott

Somerset Council and Wales & West Utilities plan to close the A371 in Draycott throughout pretty much all of the summer holidays. Whilst this work on the gas main might be important, closing the main road between Wells and Cheddar would be a mistake, affecting families, tourism and local businesses.

The closure is planned between 20th July and 30th August, which is the bulk of the school holidays locally and nationally.

This route is critically important for hundreds of businesses, as an artery that connects Cheddar, Axbridge and Shipham to Wells, Wookey and beyond.

Somerset Council should consider changing the date of the closure to after the kids are back at school in September (Wessex Learning Trust schools return on 7th September).
