Last year, Somerset Council scrapped the proposed 30mph speed limit through Weare and the Allertons, citing its financial emergency. It has now reverted to the parish councils with a different proposal, which involves Chapel Allerton and Weare Parish Councils contributing to the cost.

Lib Dem-controlled Somerset Council no longer wishes for Chapel Allerton itself to have a formal speed limit - the limit will only apply to Notting Hill Way as far as Rawlings Lane and won't include the villages or side roads. Residents will have to pay for the new signage.

Chapel Allerton Parish Council is now seeking comments on the proposals. There's more information on the Parish Council website here and you can email the clerk on [email protected] The Parish Council hopes to make a decision at the end of the month.
