The Draycott Road will be closed from next week for more than a month, while Wales and West Utilities replace the old cast iron gas pipes under the A371 with new plastic ones. The closure will be the whole road, from 1st Sep until up to 11th Oct, rather than rolling works and temporary access.
The closure itself is between the garden centre and the School Lane junction, so the traffic diversion is likely to be Redcliffe Street - Bradley Cross - Top Road.
There’s no planned disruption to the gas supply more widely in Cheddar and where individual houses along the route might expect an interrupted supply, Wales & West have written to that household in advance.
The road closure was planned for the summer holidays, but the dates were changed following complaints about the impact on businesses and tourism.
